“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”
I was talking to my mentor about how it feels when you are reminded of a time when you were hurt… and she had some very wise words.
When we encounter people that hurt us the most, they are in fact our greatest teachers. It’s as if they hold up a mirror to ourselves by showing us where we really are as opposed to what we tell others/ourselves, and what stories or patterns we are holding on to.
Its true that when you realise this, you see that a great deal has been learnt and how much stronger and wiser you are now. Then forgiveness comes easily.
Anger and hurt is toxic – and a function of the ego. For one person to be right another has to be wrong. If you don’t react in this way you realise that you don’t feel bad – in fact you feel great, bigger and expansive.
Every cloud really does have a silver lining!
However, sometimes there are people that we just don’t seem to click with. You may even admit to disliking them. So why is that? Is it because of their temper, or is it because they tend to be a bit disorganised or do you find them to be a touch too ego driven or rude. Well obviously … you are nothing like them.
Why do you like someone so much? Is it becuase you enjoy their humour or excellent cooking skills when you’re likely to burn the house down and all your guests along with it? …. Well maybe you like them so much becuase you want to be a little like them, and you relate to them becuase the seeds of those qualities and all the others that you resonate with are also within you. You connect. And when you do, you cultivate those same qualitites within yourself. You are inspired and influenced, and so on.
Well, I believe that the same stuff that is within me is also within you. We came from the same place. All the elements and molecules of the universe are right here inside you as they are inside me.
If you look carefully – the reason that you dislike someone is because they exhibit those qualities which are ready to kick their heels up in you and have a weeee parté!
OK – so think of a trait which is definately not you (OK besides kleptomaniasm or something radical) … it’s there inside YOU too my virtual reader and you probably don’t want to admit it. We are so repelled by qualiites that we want to repress/ deny or view as abhorrent becuase they reside inside – the yang of your yin – polar opposites or seemingly contrary forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world.
We are one and the same. Good thing to try to recall in our daily interactions.
